The Voronezh Locomotive Repair Plant has completed the mastering of medium repair for 2TE25KM mainline freight locomotives. This is new equipment for the enterprise: two-section locomotives operate on non-electrified sections and transport significant volumes of cargo.
Preparation for the repair took less than a year. After the first locomotive arrived at the plant in September 2025, engineers developed over 200 technological processes and about 30 testing methods. The plant established its own production of electrical equipment, replacing imported components. Specialists mastered the restoration of traction motors, the 18-9DG diesel generator, electrical equipment, and the running gear.
Alexander Mavrin, General Director of Zheldorremmash, noted that Voronezh TRZ became the third enterprise of the holding capable of performing factory repair of 2TE25KM locomotives. According to him, the experience of working with passenger rolling stock, where reliability requirements are particularly high, helped to complete the mastering in a short time.
To improve the quality of work, the plant continues to update its equipment: stands for testing brake cylinders and spring suspension, a turbocompressor flaw detection unit, and equipment for heating wheel tires have been put into operation.
