In Tolyatti, pre-production examples of the new Lada Azimut crossover were spotted on a car carrier, RCI News reports. The vehicles are painted in dark blue and dark green. The interior trim options of the prototypes differ: one received light upholstery for the seats and door panels, while the other has an entirely black interior. Mass production of the crossover will begin in September 2026.
The Lada Azimut is AvtoVAZ's first new crossover in almost 30 years. The vehicle is built on the modernized Lada Vesta platform. The car is 4,416 mm long, 1,838 mm wide, 1,607 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,675 mm. Ground clearance is 208 mm.
At the start of sales, the crossover will be equipped with two naturally aspirated engines: a 1.6-liter unit producing 120 hp and a 1.8-liter unit producing 132 hp. They will be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Later, the range will receive a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 150 hp paired with a classic hydromechanical automatic transmission. AvtoVAZ also announced a hybrid version with a combined output of 390 hp and a range of up to 1,100 km.
The equipment list will include full LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch multimedia system screen, a surround-view camera, a panoramic roof, and dual-zone climate control.
