The unique oil-free compressor manufactured by Kirovsky Kompressor (founded by PAO Kirovsky Zavod Mayak, part of the Kalashnikov Concern, and the Agency for Technological Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation) is enjoying strong demand at the international exhibition "Innoprom. Central Asia" in Tashkent.
As the company's director Leonid Kunitsyn explained, against the backdrop of growing global interest in natural-gas vehicle fuel, the market prospects for the development look promising. Today, there are several companies in Russia producing compressor units, but all of them are of the oil-lubricated type. The Kirov enterprise, however, manufactures oil-free units that compress gas without using oil in the compression chamber. This makes it possible to achieve exceptional fuel purity at the outlet and dispense with additional equipment for removing oil contaminants from the gas.
A distinguishing feature of Kalashnikov's compressor units is the crankshaft rotational speed reduced to 740 rpm and the lower piston speed. This extends service life and ensures the unit's reliability due to the low vibration level. Compressed natural gas can be used instead of gasoline or diesel in motor vehicles.
By the end of 2026, Kirovsky Kompressor plans to fully equip its machine-tool fleet, and by mid-2027 to reach its designed capacity for the production and assembly of the new compressors.
