From Earth orbit, it was possible to capture a rare combination of several space objects at once. In a single frame — comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS), the Andromeda Galaxy, and the glow above Antarctica. The video was shared by TASS special correspondent on the International Space Station, ISS commander cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.
The \"tailed\" celestial body is visible to the right of the station manipulator. According to the cosmonaut, during the same time interval when the comet appears, the Andromeda Nebula can also be seen in the sky. The bright glow that changes colors is the southern aurora above Antarctica.
Earlier, the K. E. Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics reported that residents of Russia will be able to observe comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) in the second half of April. It is specified that on April 20 it will pass perihelion — the point of maximum approach to the Sun.
The comet will be visible through binoculars, a telescope, and can even be photographed with a smartphone camera.
