Engineers of the repair unit of the Russian Armed Forces have begun to produce turrets for mobile fire groups and air observation posts for machine guns with ammunition of 3,000 rounds. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
Three Kalashnikov machine guns are installed on one turret. The unit is also suitable for installation on vehicles.
Structurally, the turret is a triple unit for 7.62-mm machine guns. The aiming range is up to 1500 m, however, when fighting low-flying drones, the most effective fire is conducted at distances up to 800–1000 m.
The rate of fire of each barrel reaches 650 rounds/min, which in total gives a huge density of fire — almost 2000 rounds/min.
Even a small paired unit can turn an ordinary car into an effective short-range air defense system.
