Moving from Windows to a Russian OS has become easier. Astra Group has introduced Astra Migration, a tool that automates the transition to Astra Linux and eliminates most of the manual work.
The main idea is to speed up the process and eliminate chaos. If previously the transfer of workplaces took a lot of time and resources, now the system can simultaneously transfer more than 100 computers. According to the developers, this is many times faster than a manual transition.
The tool itself collects information about the computer, checks the compatibility of programs and equipment, transfers user data, and tracks the entire process. The administrator sees everything in one panel: which devices have already been transferred, where problems have arisen, and what to do next.
The process has also been made as simple as possible for users — the system shows the status at each stage, so that there is no feeling of "something is happening, but it is not clear what".
A dualboot format is currently available: Windows and Astra Linux work on the same device, and data is transferred automatically. A complete transition with system replacement will be added later.
In fact, Astra Migration closes one of the main problems of the transition to domestic software — complexity and risks. Now companies can transfer infrastructure without stopping work and overloading the IT department.
The tool is aimed at government agencies, businesses and companies that are switching to Russian software. It will be publicly shown on April 20 at the AKPO-Conf conference.
