Right during the flight, passengers and crew of the Russian airliner can now hold video conferences, make calls from landline phones and access the Internet from mobile devices - all in secure mode. This capability is provided by a new digital communication complex developed by the Rosel holding company, which is part of the Rostec State Corporation.
The system creates a broadband wireless channel on board the aircraft that is resistant to external interference and unauthorized access. This makes it possible to organize stable video conferencing, telephone conversations and network access even at altitudes of more than ten kilometers. Moreover, data protection is built in at the hardware level: information is encrypted before being sent on the air, which is especially important for corporate and government flights.
The complex has already passed flight tests and confirmed its operability in real operating conditions. The first aircraft to receive the new system was the Tu-214 of one of the Russian commercial airlines.
Rosel engineers noted that the equipment is adapted to domestic communication standards and can be integrated into both new and modernized aircraft.
