An Electric Car That Obeys Voice Commands: UMO 5 with "Alice" Is Being Prepared for Launch in Russia

Sales will start in the summer of 2026, the price is about 2.5 million rubles

Retail sales of MO 5 electric vehicles in Russia are expected in June 2026. According to Yandex, the model is currently used in the B2B segment, primarily in taxis. Then it will appear in the Yandex Drive service, and only after that it will be released for free sale to private clients. The production of cars is organized at the Moscow plant.

A key feature of the project is integration with the "Alice" voice assistant and the Yandex ecosystem. Users will be able to control the car through smart speakers and TV stations: start the engine, check the car's condition, and receive trip data directly from home. The Home to Car and Car to Home formats combine the car and the "smart home" into a single digital environment.

Inside the UMO 5 is a multimedia complex with a 14.6-inch screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a surround-view camera, as well as a 4G modem and Wi-Fi.

Through "Alice", the driver will be able to control household appliances at home, collect orders in delivery services, and receive information about parcels and routes directly on the road.

The UMO 5 is based on the Chinese GAC Aion Y Plus electric car of the 2025 model, but the Russian version has undergone a deep adaptation. The car received an electric motor with a capacity of 204 hp and a traction battery with a capacity of 63.2 kWh. During the tests, the car confirmed a range of 400–420 km on a single charge. The maximum speed is 160 km/h.

The preliminary cost of UMO 5 for private buyers will be about 2.5 million rubles, taking into account a state subsidy of 925 thousand rubles.
