The launch complex for the Angara family of rockets at the Vostochny Cosmodrome has been officially commissioned. This was announced by the General Director of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Angara is a family of Russian modular launch vehicles created on the basis of universal rocket modules. It includes carriers from light to heavy classes. The Angara family of rockets uses environmentally friendly fuel components - kerosene and liquid oxygen, which distinguishes them from their predecessors.
The first launch of the heavy Angara-A5 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome took place in April 2024. The carrier is capable of launching up to 24 tons of payload into low Earth orbit. The commissioning of the launch complex allows for regular launches of rockets of this type to solve problems in the interests of the Ministry of Defense and to launch civilian spacecraft into orbit.
