He presented an ambitious modernization plan that will transform the oldest shipyard into a high-tech complex of world-class level in five years.

Obukhov clarified that "Severnaya Verf" will rethink the philosophy of production. Instead of sequential assembly on the slipway, ships will begin to be formed from large blocks weighing up to 900 tons.

We are moving away from outdated methods to a modern high-tech process, where the main principles are quality, speed, and scale. The main task is to meet the country's needs in a short time.

The large-scale upgrade will allow processing up to 90 thousand tons of metal annually. As a result of the modernization, production volume will increase by 15 times. This will make it possible to build any type of ship in enclosed slipways.

It should be noted that Obukhov made these statements against the background of large-scale lawsuits against the shipyard for 12 billion rubles. The plant finished 2024 with a record loss in the company's history — 7.5 billion rubles.

The main products of "Severnaya Verf" are modern multi-purpose ships, for example, frigates of Project 22350 ("Admiral Gorshkov") and corvettes of Projects 20380/20385.
