Russian Tanks 10 Times More Accurate Than Artillery in Firing Accuracy

Combat vehicle crews reported high efficiency when working on targets

Tanks are beginning to perform tasks that were previously assigned to artillery. The reason is the higher accuracy of fire at short distances. If self-propelled guns have a dispersion of up to tens of meters, then a tracked combat vehicle is capable of working almost "on the spot", said a tanker with the call sign Flash.

Crews are increasingly going to direct fire to support infantry.

We drove out, worked on it twice, dismantled the dugout. Tanks have much better accuracy than artillery. They have a dispersion of 100 meters, we have a dispersion of 10 meters. That is, every second shell lands on target.

At the same time, the load on the tanks is increasing, they are becoming a priority target for drones and anti-tank weapons. The vehicles are equipped with additional protection, and the positions have to be constantly changed.

Note that Flash, apparently, meant specifically work at short range. Tanks are capable of hitting at a range of up to 10 km, while artillery is at a range of more than 30 km.

However, not everyone considers modern tanks, even the T-90M, an important element for the army. Military journalist Dmitry Steshin noted that combat vehicles have become "an excellent target" for drones even when working from a closed firing position.
