60 Billion for Giant Tires: First Plant for BelAZ and KamAZ to Be Built in Russia

The enterprise will be launched at the end of 2028, with a design capacity of 10.5 thousand extra-large tires per year

A large-scale industrial project is being prepared for implementation in the Omsk region — the construction of a plant for the production of large and extra-large tires for mining dump trucks. The investment volume is estimated at approximately 60 billion rubles, and the launch of the enterprise is scheduled for the end of 2028.

The enterprise will specialize in tires for heavy mining equipment, including BelAZ, KamAZ, and Caterpillar dump trucks. The design capacity of the future plant is about 10.5 thousand tires annually. This involves the formation of a virtually new production segment in Russia: in the Soviet period, the production of extra-large tires was concentrated at the Belshina facilities in Belarus.

According to regional authorities, the project is in the development stage — neither the specific investor nor the final location is disclosed yet. At the same time, it is emphasized that the initiative is strategic and can cover a significant part of the needs of the mining sector.

The project is being discussed in the context of the development of the chemical industry and the increase of technological sovereignty, and it also fits into the objectives of the national project "New Materials and Chemistry." As part of this program, it is planned to reduce dependence on imports of chemical products to 30% by 2030 and increase the industry's contribution to the economy to 11 trillion rubles.
