2GIS has introduced something no one expected — memes right on the map. Now users can find local and nationwide jokes tied to specific locations and cities.
At the start, more than 50 memes are available: from purely local jokes to viral stories that have spread throughout the country. For example, in Barnaul you can come across the legendary "metro that doesn't exist", in Moscow — jokes about transport and the "special life of the capital", and in St. Petersburg — traditionally about the weather.
There are also memes that have long gone beyond their cities: "This is a fiasco, bro" from Pyatigorsk, Big Floppa from Moscow, or the iconic "Walking to the River", filmed in the Krasnodar Territory.
To enable meme-tourist mode, just type "memes on the map" in the search. Each meme has a description — why it became popular and how it is connected with the place.
The collection is promised to be updated regularly, and users can already suggest their own memes for addition. Now the map is not only about routes, but also about mood.
