The Russian commercial transport manufacturer "EM Rus" (LLC "Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus") will switch to SKD assembly of UMO electric vehicles at the "Moskvich" plant in 2027. This was announced by the company's CEO, Ilya Rashkin.
According to him, the localization of production will take some time.
Within the framework of UMO, this is the transition to SKD assembly, localization of telematics and navigation unit, as well as batteries, ABS and other elements.
To organize CKD assembly at the plant in Moscow, it is necessary to install welding robots. Body painting will be carried out there as well. During the assembly of UMO, imported parts will be replaced with Russian ones, Rashkin summarized.
In February 2026, the "Moskvich" plant launched the production of electric and hybrid vehicles under the UMO brand. The first model is the UMO 5 electric crossover for use in taxi services.
