The Ishim Mechanical Plant (IMZ) is preparing to launch the production of large gears — critical parts for the repair of railway equipment. The project is a response to the sharply increased demand from service companies working with the rolling stock of Russian Railways.
The company has already signed a contract with Zheldorremmash for the supply of 1,500 necessary products for production. This is the first major order that actually launches a new direction.
General Director Alexander Strunin clarified that the launch will provide preferential financing.
Equipment delivery will begin at the end of April and will be completed in October. After that, a pilot batch will have to be manufactured and the certification process will have to be completed. We expect to release the first batch of large gears in the first quarter of 2027.
Under the project, IMZ is seriously restructuring production. The foundry has been restored and the capacity has been redistributed, and a separate site has been freed up for the production of wheels. Six machines will be installed there — turning, gear milling and gear grinding complexes. At the same time, the company is preparing the infrastructure for a full processing cycle.
Large gears are a key element of traction rolling stock. They operate under high loads and directly affect the service life of the equipment.
