Korean Answer to Telegram: KakaoTalk Gains Popularity in Russia

Russians have begun to actively switch to the South Korean messenger KakaoTalk against the backdrop of restrictions on familiar services. The application, launched back in 2010 and ahead of Telegram, unexpectedly turned out to be a full-fledged alternative: chats, calls, channels and media exchange are available to users in Russia without restrictions.

The messenger supports registration with Russian numbers, and its interface is almost completely translated into Russian. Thanks to this, users can start working without additional settings and technical workarounds.

The application remains available for installation in Google Play and the App Store without restrictions. At the same time, the service is not yet available in RuStore.

Among the features of KakaoTalk is the ability to create up to three profiles per number, which allows you to separate work and personal communication. Registration requires sending an SMS to a foreign number and takes several minutes.

Against the backdrop of changes in the operation of popular platforms, users continue to look for stable communication channels, and KakaoTalk is becoming one of the most noticeable options.
