The flight range of the Su-35S fighter has been increased thanks to a clever idea - a fuel tank was hung in place of the brake flap. A pilot with the call sign Bear told about the details of the combat aircraft's design.
He stated that the "Dryer" in the sky behaves like a real hunter. Thanks to its powerful technical equipment, the fighter is capable of performing combat missions at any time of the day.
Su-35S is a wonderful machine. I have been flying it for a long time, so I can say this with confidence. The number of fuel tanks has been increased here. One of them was placed in place of the brake flap.
It should be noted that after the abandonment of the brake flap, this function during landing is performed by rudders, which deflect in different directions. The designers used the freed-up space inside the fuselage to increase the volume of internal fuel tanks. That is, the fuel is now located where the brake flap compartment was in the old models.
Earlier, the Technosphere of Russia publication, citing sources, reported that the Aerospace Forces in 2025 received from 14 to 20 Su-35S fighters.
