In Chuvashia, a special device has been developed and patented that helps to increase the yield of hops — a key ingredient for brewing.
We are talking about an agricultural unit that is installed on a tractor and used in the cultivation of hop plantations. The device carefully loosens the soil around the plants, forms a protective layer of soil and simultaneously removes weeds. Thanks to this treatment, the root system of hops receives more air and moisture, and the plants themselves begin to develop faster and more stably.
According to the developers, the technology allows improving the growing conditions of hops without additional chemistry. The soil retains moisture better, competition with weeds is reduced, and the bushes themselves form more powerful shoots — it is on them that hop cones later appear, which are used in brewing.
It is no coincidence that the development appeared here. Chuvashia is considered the main hop-growing region of Russia — it accounts for more than half of all hops grown in the country.
If the new technology begins to be actively implemented, this could seriously support the industry: farmers will be able to receive higher and more stable yields, and the brewing industry will be less dependent on imported raw materials.
