The Progress MS-33 space freighter was mated with the transfer compartment

Assembly of the launch vehicle continues at Baikonur

Roscosmos reported a new stage in the preparation of the Progress MS-33 cargo spacecraft at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Specialists completed mating the vehicle with the transfer compartment. The operation is necessary for the further assembly of the launch vehicle.

The corporation explained that the "ring" plays a key role by connecting the spacecraft to the rocket's third stage. Without this element, launching and placing the vehicle into orbit becomes impossible. It provides the mechanical connection between the freighter and the carrier. It is precisely along this interface line that the spacecraft separates in the ninth minute of flight.

The compartment also integrates the Progress command interface with the rocket's onboard control system. This allows the systems to exchange data during ascent.

Last week, engineers of the cosmodrome's technical service reported the completion of fueling. The spacecraft received all the necessary fuel components and compressed gases. The vehicle is fully ready for flight and its future docking with the International Space Station.

The launch of the launch vehicle is scheduled for March 22.
