The Tutaev Motor Plant (TMZ) has started production of the new 13-liter inline R6 engine. This project will be implemented in 2026 at the company's site located in the Yaroslavl Region.
The first delivery of engines is scheduled for July — the units will be sent to the assembly line of the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant.
The plant is setting up a production line for the new engine. In the mechanical assembly shop, an assembly and testing area has been prepared — lighting, infrared heating, and an assembly stand have been installed, and specialists are carrying out the installation of a substation. Construction work will be completed in May, after which the line will move on to commissioning.
After the launch of serial deliveries of the 13-liter version, the team will move on to the next stage of the program. The designers will begin experimental design work on modifications of the R6 family with displacements of 15.2 and 18 liters. Expanding the lineup will increase the production workload and meet customers' needs for more powerful power units.
