The Whoosh electric scooter rental service is updating its technology before the new season. In 2026, users are promised several features that should simplify the start of the trip and solve one of the main problems of urban services — unstable mobile internet.
The main change is that QR codes are no longer required. Now it is enough to simply point your smartphone's camera at the scooter number, and the application itself will determine the device and offer to start renting.
If there are several scooters nearby, the application will show the battery charge and the approximate range of each, so that you can immediately choose the best option.
The developers also improved the launch of rentals via SMS — this function is useful if the Internet is working poorly. Now you don’t need to manually write a message: just scan the QR code, and the SMS will be filled in automatically. After sending, the trip starts.
The update also affected technical support. Sections with frequently asked questions have been added to the chat — for example, about parking, payment or completion of the trip. This will allow you to solve problems faster without waiting for an operator.
To use all the new features, users need to update the Whoosh application before the trip.
