Novosibirsk KB "Spektr" will launch serial production of the "Vorobey-15" multi-purpose transport octocopter in February. The device is designed for a payload of up to 15 kg and is primarily intended for logistical support of units at the forefront. This was announced to TASS by the company's executive director, Andrey Bratenkov.
The "Vorobey-15" is built on the basis of KB "Spektr"'s own 15×7×3 propeller, which the company already produces serially. The octocopter design allows the use of serial engines without special adaptation, which simplifies production and maintenance.
Eight main rotors provide the device with a key tactical advantage over quadcopters: if one propeller is lost, the quadcopter falls with a probability of 100%, while the octocopter retains the ability to fly. According to Bratenkov, this is what determines the reliability and combat effectiveness of the machine.
