In Nizhny Novgorod, the revival project of the legendary Volga brand has officially started. It is being implemented by PLA JSC (Passenger Car Production), Kommersant reports, citing an official press release.
At the first stage, the line will be represented by three models in the most popular segments: D-SUV, C-SUV and D-sedan. The production will be located at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod - it was there that the European Skoda and Volkswagen were previously assembled.
Currently, the company is carrying out planned preparation of infrastructure and equipment. Mass production of cars will begin in the second quarter of 2025 with a gradual increase in volumes. The maximum capacity of the plant, as specified in the release, will be 110 thousand cars per year.
Earlier it was reported that the first Volga models would be built on the platforms of popular Chinese crossovers and sedans Geely - Monjaro, Atlas and Preface. However, this information is not confirmed in the official announcement.
