The Baltic Fleet Project 20380 corvette "Stoiky" took part in joint naval exercises with ships of the Iranian Navy in the waters of the Gulf of Oman. This was reported by the fleet's press service.
The maneuvers took place after the Russian ship called at the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. On the Iranian side, the exercise involved the frigate "Alvand," the missile boat "Neize," and the corvette "Shahid Sayad Shirazi."
Russian and Iranian crews practiced elements of joint maneuvering and tasks to ensure the safety of civilian shipping. Representatives of each side alternated in directing the exercise episodes.
Project 20380 corvettes are designed for operations in the near sea zone. Their armament includes anti-ship missiles, air defense systems, artillery, and anti-submarine warfare equipment, which allows them to carry out a wide range of tasks as part of naval groupings.
