On February 15, 2026, scheduled preventive maintenance began at Unit 2 of the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant. As part of this work, specialists will disconnect the unit from the power system to carry out a set of equipment servicing and modernization measures.
Work is planned in the reactor hall to repair the reactor plant, including the partial unloading of fuel from the core. In addition, key components of the reactor plant and all three safety system channels will be repaired. In the turbine hall, a major overhaul of the turbine low-pressure cylinder, intermediate maintenance of the turbogenerator with rotor removal, as well as servicing of the main equipment are scheduled.
Unit 2, equipped with a VVER-1000 reactor, was commissioned for commercial operation in 2010. Over its entire operating period, it has generated more than 128.6 billion kWh of electricity, a volume sufficient to cover the needs of all consumers in Rostov Region for six years.
At present, the other power units of the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant are operating normally, following the dispatch load schedule. No violations of safe operating limits and conditions have been recorded.
