The Russian luxury brand Aurus has officially certified its new model, the Merlon electric motorcycle. Receiving Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) gives the company the right to launch mass production and begin sales.
Aurus Merlon is a heavy motorcycle weighing 625 kg (with a sidecar). The electric powertrain provides a continuous output of 87 horsepower.
The electric bike is almost 2.3 meters long, and its width with the sidecar is 1.9 meters. The production site for creating the Merlon became the scientific center of FSUE "NAMI".
The speed of the Aurus Merlon is more than 240 km/h (without the sidecar). Acceleration time to 100 km/h is less than 4 seconds. The electric bike's range is up to 200 km.
For travel during the winter period, the motorcycle features a sidecar. It provides stability on slippery roads and makes it possible to accommodate an additional battery.
The motorcycle was first presented to the general public in May 2024. At the same time, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov announced the opening of pre-orders for the commercial version of the Aurus Merlon. The model was expected to enter the market in 2025, but it was decided to send the vehicle for further refinement.
