The Il-96-400T wide-body cargo aircraft operated a flight from Shijiazhuang, China, to Novosibirsk with an engine that failed in flight. The incident occurred aboard the aircraft with registration number RA-96103 while en route to Tolmachevo Airport.
During the flight, the crew recorded the failure of one powerplant. As a result, the aircraft successfully continued the flight on the three remaining engines without changing its route.
The Il-96-400T is equipped with PS-90A turbofan engines. These powerplants are certified for flights with one engine out and ensure retained controllability and the required thrust even in abnormal situations.
The Il-96-400T is capable of carrying up to 92 tonnes of cargo over a distance of 5,000 km, and with a 40-tonne payload, up to 11,550 km.
