"Lastochka" and "Finist" electric trains may be launched to provide direct suburban service between Russia and Belarus. This was reported by Russian Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin.
These will be electric trains. Comfortable electric trains; in the future, possibly, these will be "Finists" or "Lastochkas". We will see what the passenger occupancy is like.
The Russian government approved projects for the development of railway connections between Smolensk, Vitebsk, and Orsha. The resolution was published on January 31, 2026.
The total amount of investment from the Belarusian side for the implementation of these projects will amount to 940 million Russian rubles.
