A maximum-class X flare was recorded on the Sun on February 1. This was reported by the press service of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of IKI and ISZF.
The X level has been breached. The measured level is X1.04. Peak at 15:33 Moscow time.
Scientists reported that signs of a mass ejection appeared following the event. However, astronomers consider the possibility of an impact on Earth minimal — the active region is offset by an angle of about 50° from the Sun-Earth line.
The star's explosive center will be in the zone of direct impact on Earth from February 3 to 7.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Sun erupted with three powerful flares at once on February 1.
