Pivot away from China: Russia to launch its own huge silicone production

A new enterprise may appear in Kazan in 2027

By 2027, a new large-scale production facility for silicone rubber is expected to appear in Russia. This was reported by Alyona Lakomkina, chief technologist of the Kazan company "Ambrella Silikon".

She pointed out that today all liquid silicone rubbers are purchased in China. Many domestic manufacturers suffer from poor quality because they make products from Chinese raw materials.

Enterprises from China are inferior in quality to Western ones. Among the other problems are the increasing complexity of logistics chains and supply disruptions due to sanctions.

The Kazan enterprise proposed creating production of base polymers and full-fledged systems for manufacturing silicone products and siliconized coatings.

We hope that by 2027, with our help, the level of the industry's import dependence will decrease at least to 71%. For now, we make 20 systems, but this number can easily reach a thousand.

"Ambrella Silikon" plans to purchase its own reactors and reach production of 700 tons of output per year. For now, the company is able to produce 10 tons of output per day at leased facilities.
