Traffic jams of up to 9 points are expected in Moscow on the evening of January 29, the Department of Transport warned

Snowfall and local closures will slow traffic

In Moscow, traffic jams of up to 9 points are expected on the evening of January 29 due to continuous snowfall and local road closures. Public transport is recommended for travel, the capital's Department of Transport reported.

The Traffic Management Center (TsODD) warned that snow reduces visibility, lowers average traffic speed, and increases the risk of road accidents.

Local closures are planned in central Moscow, because of which usual routes may be closed and detours may be congested. Travel time will become unpredictable. Those who still decide to drive are advised to set out only after 20:30.

According to the Yandex Weather service, Muscovites can expect stable winter weather through the end of the week, with daytime temperatures from minus 10 to minus 8 degrees and possible moderate snowfall.
