Three Il-76 aircraft with snowplows and a loader arrived in Kamchatka

The region will receive nine units of special equipment to eliminate the consequences of heavy snowfall

Three Il-76 aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations with additional special equipment have been sent to Kamchatka to eliminate the consequences of heavy snowfall, the ministry's press service reported.

The first aircraft departed from Vladivostok and will deliver a loader, a snowmobile and two snowplows to the peninsula. Two more Il-76s were sent from Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod — they carry snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles. In total, the region will receive nine units of equipment.

The flights are carried out on behalf of the Russian government and by order of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov. Rescuers are already working in the settlements of Kamchatka: clearing social facilities from snow, paving the way to kindergartens and schools, and helping to transport disabled citizens from the private sector to hospitals.

Snowfalls in Kamchatka have not stopped since mid-November. Due to a series of powerful cyclones, a state of emergency has been introduced in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at the municipal level.
