"Marmon" for Sale: An Almost Brand-New ZiL-157 Found in the Kursk Region

A 1985 military truck with minimal mileage is being offered for 650,000 rubles

A 1985 ZiL-157 with a kung body (universal zero-dimension body) has been put up for sale in the Kursk Region. The vehicle spent its entire life in storage with civil defense. The truck's mileage is less than 10,000 kilometers, and the price is 650,000 rubles.

The seller claims the vehicle is completely original, down to the last screw. Before the sale, the truck underwent a technical inspection, and the paperwork is in order. After being decommissioned, the vehicle was taken out of long-term storage and put up for sale.

The ZiL-157 is a three-axle all-wheel-drive truck developed in the late 1950s as the main high-mobility army vehicle to replace the ZiS-151. Production continued until 1994. The model proved extremely successful: simple, reliable, and highly capable off-road, it was widely used in the Soviet Army, the national economy, geological exploration, and in the North. The truck was extensively exported, where it served for decades in the harshest conditions.

Among the people, the 157 had about 15 nicknames: "Marmon," "Crocodile" (in Lithuania, "shyashyakois krokodilas"), "Iron," and "Cleaver."

The find is of interest to collectors of military vehicles: its condition is close to factory-new, and the mileage is minimal for a 40-year-old machine.
