A car not cleared of snow in a timely manner significantly reduces road safety and creates a danger for both the driver and other road users. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by car lawyer Alexander Kasyanenko.
The main risk for the driver is related to reduced visibility. Snow on the windshield and side windows obstructs the view, and a snow "cap" on the roof, during sudden braking or maneuvering, can slide onto the windshield and completely block visibility. This situation sharply increases the likelihood of a traffic accident, especially in urban traffic or on a slippery road.
Danger is also created for other road users. Pieces of snow or ice falling from the roof of a car can damage other people's cars, and under certain circumstances, provoke an emergency situation, for example, by forcing another driver to brake sharply or swerve.
As a result of such incidents, not only mechanical damage to vehicles is possible, but also the driver's financial responsibility — cash payments for damage caused, as well as possible legal proceedings.
Thus, according to the car lawyer, timely cleaning of the car from snow and ice is not only a mandatory measure to ensure one's own safety, but also an important responsibility to other road users, which helps to prevent accidents and financial losses.
