The machine-building plant (ZMP) in Zelenodolsk, where 400 local residents work, will be closed. Many employees have already been dismissed, and the remaining ones are listed as staff of KMPO, the parent company.
Former employees of ZMZ said that they were not offered to stay. The departments simply sent a list of how many people to leave, how many and which positions.
That is, they fired us due to liquidation, there is no reduction. I'm a little upset because I was supposed to sit in the decree. Now I'm going to the exchange to get these two payments. Of course, it's not 100% sure that I will be paid them.
Zelenodolsk Machine-Building Plant is a branch of the Kazan Engine-Building Production Association (KMPO). It was built in 1980–1985 against the background of increased demand for converted engines.
Currently, the design and complete production of gas pumping units, gas turbine power plants, automatic gas distribution stations, their individual units, blocks and various metal structures are underway there.
In 2024–2025, a mega-project was implemented on the territory of ZMZ, which has no analogues in Russia — an assembly and testing complex for large-capacity compressors necessary for liquefied natural gas plants. This is a strategically important object for achieving technological sovereignty in the gas industry.
