500 kW Hybrid Engine for Drones Created in Russia

Promising new product to be presented at Umex exhibition in the UAE

A 500 kW hybrid engine for advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has been created in Russia. The power plant demonstrator will be presented at the upcoming international Umex 2026 in Abu Dhabi from January 20 to 22, according to the United Engine Corporation (UEC).

The development was carried out by "UEC-Klimov". The power plant has already passed bench tests and confirmed the embedded technical solutions.

Amid the development of heavy drones, we are seeing an active growth in the hybrid and electric direction. The presented developments will become a relevant solution for promising UAVs.

Also, "Klimov" has developed a 35 kW power unit — an alternative to batteries for powering electric motors of multirotor UAVs.
