First 50 kW engine for drones developed in Russia

The power unit was created at the Tomsk SPC BAS

Engineers of the Scientific and Production Center "Unmanned Aviation Systems" (SPC BAS) in the Tomsk Region have created the first Russian domestic engine for a drone with a capacity of 50 kilowatts. This was announced by the director of the center, Denis Melikov.

Melikov did not provide detailed characteristics of the new product. He noted that in 2026, the center's funding will amount to up to 600 million rubles, of which 265 million will come from the regional budget.

They also completed the development and released a small series of heavy drones capable of lifting up to 200 kg.

It should be recalled that the SPC BAS specializes in the research, development and production of unmanned aircraft systems.

The center was opened in 2025 with a subsidy of 2.2 billion rubles under the national project "Unmanned Aviation Systems." Serial production of UAVs was launched in the spring of 2025.
