The X1.9 flare occurred on the Sun in spot group 4341 (S14E22) on January 18. This event was accompanied by a plasma cloud. It will hit Earth on January 20, in the middle of the day. This was reported by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI and ISZF.
The moment of impact on Earth will be accompanied by strong geomagnetic disturbances up to level G4.
According to astronomers' forecasts, the probability of the highest level magnetic storms (G5) is about 10%. On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, auroras can be observed almost throughout Russia.
