The Russian ballistic missile "Oreshnik" can only be intercepted by one air defense system (ADS) in the world - the S-500 "Prometey". This point of view was expressed by the head of the Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, Alexander Mikhailov.
He recalled that "Prometey" is currently only in service with the Russian army.
I have seen statements by Western experts who suggest using the SM-3 missile, as well as the Arrow-3 system, in addition to THAAD, to intercept the "Oreshnik". But in reality, all Western missile defense systems have never worked on hypersonic weapons and have not intercepted our hypersonic products.
Footage of the new combat use of "Oreshnik"without a special warhead has appeared online. As can be judged from the video, six combat units hit the targets. Information about the launch of "Oreshnik" was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Earlier it became known that the first regiment with the S-500 "Prometey" air defense system took up combat duty. The head of the Ministry of Defense, Andrei Belousov, noted that the complex is capable of hitting targets even in near space.
