S-500 "Prometheus" anti-aircraft defense system can even take down stealth fighters

The complex's computing resources allow for the competent distribution of targets between launchers

The new S-500 "Prometheus" anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) is capable of effectively engaging even stealth fighters thanks to advanced computing systems, according to military expert Alexei Zakharov.

According to him, even fragments of available information about the complex make it clear that it is a system of a fundamentally new level. Zakharov recalled a conversation with the general designer of the Almaz Central Design Bureau, Alexander Lemansky, who back in the 1960s foresaw the development of combat aviation towards reducing radar signature and began to systematically solve this problem.

As far as I know, very successfully. So, in my opinion, the "talk" that the S-500 can take down modern stealth aircraft has a very solid foundation.

Zakharov added that the S-500 is being created as a "complex of complexes." Its software is capable of combining various SAM systems, radar stations, and control points into a single air defense system, including those with different communication protocols.

The computing resources of the S-500 allow for the competent distribution of targets between specific SAM systems that are part of this integrated air defense system. It is clear that this significantly increases its effectiveness.

Earlier it became known that the first regiment with the S-500 "Prometheus" air defense system had taken up combat duty. Head of the Ministry of Defense Andrei Belousov noted that the complex is capable of hitting targets even in near space.
