The first commercial train of the newest eight-axle gondola cars model 12-5991 "Ural", developed and manufactured at Uralvagonzavod (UVZ), has been put into operation on the Russian railways. 40 units of rolling stock have already been delivered to the customer - Federal Freight Company (FGK).
The"Ural" gondola car has no analogues among domestic models. Thanks to its unique design and increased carrying capacity - 151 tons with a body volume of 176 m³ - it is able to significantly increase the efficiency of railway freight transportation. The use of a modern coupling device has reduced the length of each car, which, in turn, makes it possible to form longer trains without exceeding the permissible dimensions.
Earlier, in November 2025, a prototype successfully passed a test run along the route St. Petersburg - Vladivostok, confirming its reliability and compliance with the requirements of operation on extended sections of the network.
