Modern digital navigation has been introduced in the Moscow Metro for the first time at the Akademicheskaya station of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. According to TASS, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov said that the new system completely replaces outdated analog indicators and allows for real-time information updates.
Digital panels have been installed in the passage between the Akademicheskaya stations of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya and Troitskaya lines. According to Liksutov, this is the first step towards creating fully digital transport facilities in the Moscow Metro. The screen navigation not only shows routes, but also displays animations indicating additional points of interest, including objects at neighboring stations, which makes it easier for passengers to navigate.
In addition, innovative signs have appeared at the new exits from the Troitskaya line station of the same name. In total, eight digital navigation panels have been installed for the opening of the interchange and new exits. The new system allows for more efficient use of indicator space and quickly informs passengers of any changes, including the launch of new interchanges.
The program for transitioning to digital navigation in the Moscow Metro started in 2025. The first digital stations - Vavilovskaya, Akademicheskaya, Krymskaya, and ZIL - were immediately equipped with modern panels from the moment they opened. According to the mayor's office, by 2030, more than 30% of all metro signs will be digital, with a special focus on the Big Circle Line.
