Fico said that Russian specialists will not be able to participate in the project due to sanctions

Slovakia, due to European sanctions, will not be able to involve Russia as a partner in the development of nuclear energy, nor will it be able to use its technologies. This was stated by Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Given our experience, it would be logical to continue cooperation with the Russian Federation. They have good technologies.
Robert Fico, Prime Minister of Slovakia

Fico called the cooperation between Slovakia and Russia"natural," but pointed to a political problem. As a result, his country's partner in nuclear energy will be the American company Westinghouse.

Slovakia, with the support of the United States, plans to build a new power unit at the Bohunice NPP. At the same time, the nuclear technological complex will be owned by Bratislava.

There are two nuclear power plants in the territory of the Central European state: Bohunice and Mochovce. Both facilities were implemented with the participation of Soviet and Russian specialists. The stations cover more than 50% of the country's energy consumption. In the future, Slovakia plans to export electricity.
