Russia allegedly dispatched a submarine and other units of the Navy to the North Atlantic with the task of meeting the Russian-flagged tanker Marinera. This information was published by the BBC.
According to available data, a submarine and other Navy ships moved out to meet the vessel.
It is worth noting that there has been no official confirmation of reports about the deployment of Russian Navy forces and assets to escort the tanker.
The Telegram channel "Russkoe oruzhie" suggested which forces might take part in such an operation.
This may involve a Project 22350 frigate, a Project 20380/85 corvette, as well as a Project 636.3 or 885 submarine.
Recall that the tanker in question previously bore the name Bella 1. The vessel entered the Caribbean Sea as early as December 21, 2025, after which it set course for the North Atlantic, changing its name to Marinera.
The Russian Foreign Ministry previously stated that it is closely monitoring the situation around the tanker and expects that the United States and its partners will comply with international norms and the principles of freedom of navigation on the high seas.
