Artificial intelligence is actively used to protect users from Internet fraudsters — modern browsers and applications are able to recognize phishing sites and suspicious calls in real time. This was stated by Alexander Lunev, head of the information security training group at Yandex.
According to him, built-in AI algorithms in browsers, including Yandex products, analyze dozens of parameters in fractions of a second — from domain reputation and page structure to suspicious forms for entering payment data. If a site raises doubts, the system instantly warns the user about a potential threat.
In addition, artificial intelligence technologies are used to filter incoming calls. Algorithms evaluate the number, frequency and time of calls, as well as complaints from other users. If the system recognizes suspicious activity, a "probably fraudsters" mark appears on the screen. Lunev noted that such warnings should not be ignored, as they signal a real danger.ch>
The expert recalled that the end of the year is traditionally a "hot" period for fraudsters: they create fake online stores with "discounts of up to 90%", send out phishing emails on behalf of delivery services or banks, and also call with requests to confirm an SMS code. The purpose of such actions is to evoke a strong emotion in a person and force them to act impulsively.
Lunev recommended that users regularly update their browsers and applications to gain access to improved AI modules trained on new fraudulent schemes. However, he stressed that even the most advanced technologies will not replace attentiveness: when receiving suspicious offers, it is important to remain calm and ask yourself the question — why and why did the message or call come right now.
