News 24: Russian Navy ships to participate in Mosi III naval exercises

Joint maneuvers with South Africa and China will take place in the South Atlantic

The international naval exercises Mosi III ("Smoke-3") will take place in the South Atlantic in early January. Ships from the Russian Navy, the Chinese Navy, South Africa, and Iran will participate, News 24 portal reported, citing informed sources.

Sources claim that the exercises will begin on January 6 and last for 3 days. They will take place near the Cape of Good Hope near Cape Town. Iranian Navy ships are already at sea and will soon enter a South African port.

According to the portal, the maneuvers are coordinated by China. In the final phase of Mosi III, ships from the Indonesian and Ethiopian navies will join the international group.

About Mosi exercises

The first international "Smoke" exercises took place in November 2019 in the Atlantic. Then they were held in 2023 in the Indian Ocean. Mosi III was scheduled for November 2025, but it had to be postponed due to the G-20 summit in Johannesburg.
