Footage of the Russian main battle tank T-80BVM has appeared online. The combat vehicle went to perform tasks as a bridge layer.
A bridge block from TMM-3 was attached to the armored vehicle with cables — a folding two-track structure designed for quickly erecting crossings over obstacles. In the unfolded form, its length is 10.5 m.
The gas turbine engine of the T-80BVM with 1250 hp gives the tank excellent dynamics, allowing it to confidently tow the 7-ton steel block TMM-3 over soft ground.
Note that the TMM-3 block is designed for a load of 60 tons, which corresponds to the mass of the T-80BVM — about 46 tons. This allows the "carrier" tank to drive over the bridge installed by it. The tank is also usually equipped with a solid metal anti-drone protection.
Such hybrids confirm the shortage of specialized engineering equipment in the active combat zone and the high adaptability of tank units. In fact, the tank acts as an armored tractor for engineering equipment.
