Russia has a significant advantage in artillery systems, they were considered the main striking force. However, military analyst Dmitry Kornev said that there are certain questions about them related to outdated technologies.
The specialist noted that with the advent of the interspecific complex «Malva», the troops also acquired mobile artillery installations.
However, the main problem of Russian artillery is that the artillery part of our systems is no different from the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer developed in the 1980s, and modern Western counterparts have a significant advantage in their capabilities. Therefore, there is still something to work on here.
It should be noted that Kornev mentioned the howitzer 2С19 «Мста-С» — a 152-mm self-propelled gun with a firing range of up to 29 km with a rocket-assisted projectile. However, when using the Krasnopol-D guided projectile, the range can be increased to 43 km.
Last year, the first wheeled self-propelled unit 2С43 «Malva» entered service with the Russian Armed Forces, which is also capable of hitting at a range of up to 43 km.
Also actively the «Coalition-SV» is being tested with a firing range of up to 70 km, but it is not massively in the troops.
