Russia has a significant advantage in artillery systems, they were considered the main strike force. However, military analyst Dmitry Kornev said that there are certain questions about them related to outdated technologies.
The specialist noted that with the advent of the interspecific complex «Malva», the troops also acquired mobile artillery installations.
However, the main problem of Russian artillery is that the artillery part of our systems does not differ from the self-propelled howitzer «Msta-S» developed in the 1980s, and modern Western counterparts have a significant advantage in their capabilities. Therefore, there is still something to work on here.
Note that Kornev mentioned the howitzer 2S19 «Msta-S» — a 152-mm self-propelled gun with a firing range of up to 29 km with a rocket-assisted projectile. However, when using the Krasnopol-D guided projectile, the range can be increased to 43 km.
Last year, the first wheeled self-propelled unit 2S43 «Malva» entered service with the Russian Armed Forces, which is also capable of hitting at a range of up to 43 km.
Also actively the «Coalition-SV» is undergoing testing with a firing range of up to 70 km, but it is not massively in the troops.
