Astronomers have recorded a powerful flare on the Sun. This was reported by the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF.
The M5.1 flare occurred on the eastern edge of the Sun.
The power of the event was about 50% of the threshold of the highest score X. The maximum radiation was recorded at 04:50 Moscow time.
Astronomers reported that this event was the most powerful since December 8. Then, a flare of level X1.1occurred on the Sun.
According to experts, the peak of flare activity may occur during the New Year holidays. However, the probability of magnetic storms and auroras is low due to the removal of active regions from the "Sun - Earth" line.
