An unexpected high-class flare was recorded on the Sun. This was reported by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF.
At 11:30 Moscow time, an X4.05 level flare occurred. The epicenter of the event was again region 4274, located in the northern hemisphere of the Sun, which only 2 days ago produced an X5.15 flare - the strongest event of the year, responsible for the magnetic storm of November 12-13 (the second strongest in 5 years).
The largest number of strong magnetic storms (level G3 and above) in the last 10 years may occur in 2025.
The period from January to October of this year became a record for the number of geomagnetic disturbances in the last decade. A total of 134 cases were registered. This figure may still increase.
According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF, 61 magnetic storms were recorded on Earth by November 13. Among them, four were level G3 (strong), two were G4 (very strong). The last storm occurred on November 12 and reached an almost extreme value of G5.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that a record X5.16 class flareoccurred on the Sun.
